NAME = Mervyn Storey MLA Mullans ILOL 34

COMMENT = It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Bro Stevie Bell. From the fist time that I ever had the privilege of meeting Stevie it was clear that he was someone who was dedicated to what he believed in and was committed to carrying it through. Stevie always went the second mile and nothing was ever a problem, rather a challenge. On my many visits over the years to Liverpool Stevie always went out of his way to make me feel welcome. Even when I visited him in hospital, I came away encouraged rather than me being an encouragement to him. Such was the stature of the man.

Our Institution is the poorer in the passing of our highly esteemed Bro, however the memory and legacy that he leaves behind is and I trust will be a constant challenge to those of us who remain to labour as he did.

I would extend my deepest sympathy to Doris and the entire family circle and assure them of our prayers, ever comforted by the assurance of Gods Word that He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us.

NAME = Derek and Linda Johnston

COMMENT =  With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her child,

England mourns for her dead. Now he is free
Flesh of her flesh was he, spirit of her spirit,
Gone to a better place, one day we'll see

.                     Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of death,
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

He shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary him, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
                     We will remember him.

With deepest sympathy.

COMMENT = Dear Doris and family

Ve and I would like to express our deepest sympathy on the home call of your dear son, and our friend, Steve. We will have long and cherished memories of those times, though short we spent together, especially in Belfast at the Carson Centenary parade and the time we spent singing Carol’s with Steve in hospital. He has indeed fought a good fight and has kept the faith therefore there is laid up for Steve a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge shall give to all those that love his appearing (2nd Tim Chap 4 verses 7 & 8). One day we will all be reunited because of the finished work of Christ at Calvary for all who believe. May the Lord bless and comfort you all at this time.

COMMENT = I was saddened to learn of the passing on Tuesday morning of my good friend Stevie. I would like to express my condolances to his mother and family circle at this time. Stevie was a true Independent Orange Man and will be sadly missed by not only the members in England but also in Scotland & Northern Ireland. When Grand Lodge was organizing an event Stevie was always keen to be involved and was proud last year to lead the County Grand Lodge of England at the Covenant Parade in Belfast. He was a proud man in 2011 when the County Grand Lodge of England purchased its new HQ in Liverpool, something he had wanted for a number of years and I was delighted to be there on that day with him to open the hall. He will be sadly missed but we know he has gone to that great lodge above and we trust that the Institution he loved so much will continue to grow and develop in England.

COMMENT = " CASTING ALL YOUR CARE UPON HIM ; FOR HE CARETH FOR YOU " (1st Peter 5 v 7 )

Dear Doris, Linda, and Leslie,

As a family, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to you one and all. We were brokenhearted to hear the sad news of passing of a GREAT GRAND MASTER, a GREAT ORANGEMAN and a TRULY GREAT FRIEND. Its heart breaking to think, that never again will we hear his contagious laugh, his amusing and warm sense of humour, neither will we be able to listen to his wise counsel, but we will cherish every precious memory which we have of him. He was a devoted and Loyal Orangeman, and when the history of Orangeisim in England is written, then the name of Stevie Bell will adorn and grace its pages. He epitomised all that the Institution stands for, and what an honour it was to walk along side him.

He was simply a unique individual and one who will be sadly missed by us all. His enthusiasm for the Orange cause was beyond measure, and his life was devoted to maintaining and preserving our Orange Culture and Protestant Faith. Steve had an impact upon all of our lives and truly we praise the God of Heaven for allowing us the great honour and privilege in life of knowing him personally. We are devastated at his passing, and we assure his family of our prayerful support.

" Its not goodbye, its goodnight and we will see you in the morning at the breaking of the day "

From Phil and Tracey Moffatt

COMMENT = I’ve known Steve for some years, and he will be sorely missed, but more so for his mother and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Doris and the family at this time. As an institution we have lost a man who stood out amongst the rest and was at the forefront of the Independent Orange movement on the mainland.. He was never afraid to stand up for what he thought was right, and as such was honoured by being the longest serving County Grand Master in England. It’ll take a big man to fill his shoes….
